The Regional Office’s Policy and Programme Support Unit (PPSU) provides strategic and thematic assistance on liaison, project development and implementation to the IOM offices in the EEA region and Switzerland.
Globally, PPSU supports IOM’s relations and resource mobilization with the European Union institutions (European Commission, European Parliament, Council of the European Union, and European External Action Service), specialized EU agencies, EU Member States, and NATO. The Unit also works to facilitate exchange and cooperation on regional and international migration issues with the UN and Civil Society partners based in Brussels.
As part of these regional and global functions, PPSU regularly monitors EU programming, policy and legislation in the fields of migration, development and aid. In coordination with IOM Headquarters and offices, the Unit actively participates in consultations and debates held by the European Commission and Parliament and also provides IOM’s policy recommendations to the EU Council Presidencies and committees.
