Regional Migrant Assistance Specialist

Daniel provides policy guidance and programme support at the regional level on assistance to vulnerable migrants, including among other groups, protection of migrant children, counter trafficking, survivors of gender based violence, LGBTIQ+.

Prior to joining the IOM Regional Office in Brussels in 2019, Daniel served in Headquarters as Head of the Staff Development & Learning and as Training/Project Officer at the International Migration Law Unit. Previously, he covered different roles in IOM, including as International Migration Law focal point, project manager on labour migration, migration and health, AVRR, USRAP Operations assistant, project developer and focal point for the assistance of indigenous mobile populations at the Regional Office in San José.

Daniel holds a Bachelor Degree in Law from the University of La Salle and a Master’s Degree on Human Rights from the Distance National State University (UNED) of Costa Rica, with a specialization on human rights of migrants.
