Tomas Martin ERNST

Tomas joined IOM Regional Office in Brussels from IOM Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific where he was the Socioeconomic Response Officer (COVID-19) before joining the LHD portfolio as the Senior Regional Labour Mobility and Human Development Officer. He previously worked for IOM Iraq and Tunisia and spent a decade working with the United Nations and World Bank in Europe, Asia-Pacific, East Africa and the Middle East. His start-up social enterprise,, was recognized by Boulevard Magazine for its innovation in transforming the financial practices of non-profits. Tomas spent the previous five years working in local government, and his research essay on “the integration of migrants/newcomers into municipal settings" was published by Oxford University in 2019.

Tomas holds a degree in business administration from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and a Masters degree in International Relations from the University of New South Wales in Sydney.
