Addressing EU migration data challenges: What innovative data and collaboration offer

Speakers from IOM, the European Commission and European national administrations provided examples of how migration stakeholders can make best use of the information available at the Global Migration Data Portal, wihch include the newly released thematic page on migration data and COVID-19 and regional pages on migration data. This information is also helpful to support policy and research and forming partnerships.

Presenters also discussed the Big Data for Migration (BD4M) Alliance and officially launched the new Data Innovation Directory, a platform to better understand migration and human mobility in times of crisis through new data sources and methodologies such as satellite imagery, artificial intelligence and machine learning, social media and mobile phone data.

The meeting was introduced by Ola Henrikson and Britta Behrendt, and moderated by Melissa Julian.
