Head of the Elections Support Unit

Giovanna coordinates the implementation of election support missions around the world. She is as well the Project Director of the overall Framework Contract with the European Commission for election support missions. She has a considerable experience in organizing very complex international operations and has first‑hand knowledge and direct experience as Project Manager – both in the field and in Brussels – for more than 30 EU Election Observation Missions in several countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America, and as Project Development Officer.

Before joining the Regional Office in Brussels in 2007, Giovanna worked for around 10 years for several international NGOs in the areas of humanitarian assistance and development in various countries, in the Horn of Africa especially, and authored several publications.

Giovanna holds a Master’s Degree in International Humanitarian Assistance (NOHA) from the University College Dublin (UCD) and the Institute for International Law of Peace and Armed Conflict (Ruhr‑Bochum), and a Bachelor Degree in International and Diplomatic Sciences from the University of Trieste (Italy).
