Pre-Departure Orientation: Evaluation Toolkit

This toolkit provides practical tools for the design and implementation of Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) evaluations. It was developed to evaluate PDO materials and sessions; and includes a set of Pre-PDO and Post-PDO questionnaires addressing PDO trainers, trained refugees and reception staff.

The toolkit builds on PDO monitoring and evaluation mechanisms developed and implemented by IOM as part of the Italian and Portuguese national resettlement programmes. It was designed with a broader application in mind and can adapted to and replicated in other contexts across Europe.

The guidelines were developed by the University of Siena and IOM, in close collaboration with PDO trainers under the project COMMIT - Facilitating the integration of resettled refugees in Croatia, Italy, Portugal and Spain. Funded by the European Union, COMMIT seeks to foster the sustainable integration of resettled refugees in their new communities, with a specific focus on women and youth.
